Shadow

Meet Shadow. Although he may be plain in his choice of color to wear, Shadow is anything but plain in his complex communication with me about our clientele. Standing 15.2 hands, he is a large boned, well put together, American Quarter Horse.

I first met Shadow when he was a long yearling chosen by my good friend, John White, to be his program horse for the John Lyons' Certification Prgram. John selected Shadow and worked through painstaking hours of training to follow John Lyon's Methods to become a trainer. Shadow was patient and a willing student through out the program and went on to be a main horse for John's own training program in California. Later, the White's re-settled on the western slope of Colorado. Shadow was semi-retired with a few trail rides here and there. Over the years I watched Shadow as he shared pasture space with their Paint mare and a Clydesdale. The two partnered up in a relationship that did not include Shadow.

Again, in his mild mannered way, he accepted his fate and would stand off a few yards away from the two rather than suffer the consequences from the mighty little mare. John and Eilleen decided to call the ranch life quits in 2007 selling off their propetry, truck, trailers, tack and horses to settle into a more suburban life style. A decision I still don't understand to this day, but as I saw John say good-bye to it all, I knew as he did so  . .  saying good bye to Shadow was impossible. I easily offered Shadow a home here at Lil Bit North Ranch. . .  without my having any idea of the heart for my work this horse would later show.

I have been doing my Equine Gestalt practice ... clearing, cleansing and healing work with humans for many many years now.  Old Shadow is without a doubt one of the very best at ferreting out exactly what is going on with the client and showing me the way to work with them. He is a "equi-detector" . . . (like a lie detector through a horse). He is a "pantomimist extrordinaire" and a huge loving sponge to heartache and pain..... willing to shoulder it proudly to relieve a human.

He sees right through anyone who is being  unauthentic and celebrates with his heels kicked up when a client make a breakthrough!

Those who work with him know he may be a plain bay horse. . . but he is no Plain healer!!
