GREETINGS!!

It is the beginning of a "spring feel" in the air. Although we will continue to get spring snowfalls that bring great moisture for the pastures, the tough, icy snow is gone for the year!
Our green grass is peeking out from under the snow and many of our days are now warm enough to hose down the barn aisle! Our winter was the most serious ones I have been through in Colorado. It snowed on and off all season and most of us with animals are glad the icy season is behind us.
The horses however all seem to have taken it in stride, again modeling a way of dealing with life that is enviable. Wearing their winter garb and growing wooly coats they have done well. Other than their waterers in the barn quitting one week, they had it pretty good... all season! Now, they are ready to get back into action and back to work.

Our "season" for most of our workshops, retreats and private sessions is March 15th through November 15th. We are looking forward to the return of many of our clients and friends to the ranch. The locals will be invited to attend our Summer BBQ party and Open House which we are now in the process of planning.
Winter is a creative production time at Touched By A Horse. I have gone into the studio and created a new CD 'Wisdom's Journey to Abundance', we are launching a new jewelry line, expanding the website, and our dearest task has been the launch of our newest project, H.E.A.R.T.S.

This issue and the upcoming issues will feature articles on each of our winter projects, a resume intro of our ranch horses, and other fun information we hope you find interesting. We always welcome your inquiry or suggestions and most of all your visits and participation at Touched By A Horse, here at Lil Bit North Ranch.
Please invite your friends to subscribe to our newsletter list a well as our FREE daily Wisdom messages.

Who Won The Retreat?

Last year I discovered a fabulous deck of cards called "Whispers from a Horse's Heart" from "Touched by a Horse". I got a deck for myself and many other horsewomen I know. Checking out the website I discovered I could enter a drawing for a retreat given through Touched by A Horse. The idea of working intuitively with horses was right up my alley, as I've found even when I whisper, my horses so not seem to listen. Although I have never won any contest or drawing I've ever entered in my life (publisher's clearing house keeps sending the entries...) I typed in my name and information. When I received the phone call a few months later with a Woman saying "Hi! This is Melisa Pearce with Touched by a Horse," my first reaction was one of many of my friends I had gifted with a deck, was calling in fun. When I realized it really WAS Melisa Pearce stating i had won the trip to the retreat, I still thought it was a mistake - I don't ever win these things.

Thankfully, it was not a mistake, and I attended the Retreat. It turned out to be one of those lie changing experiences. Melisa and her ranch, support team (both humans and horses), and the experience of the retreat are one of the greatest gifts one could receive! The week seemed to fly by as we learned how to communicate with the horses and each other in new ways. There was lots of laughter, a few tears, terrific information shared, and a wonderful dinner with everyone to bring the week to a close. I came home with new friendships involving the other participants, a renewed passion in my life about what I wanted to do, and a lot of tools/ideas to make it happen.
If you ever feel the urge to attend one of the workshops or retreats, follow that intuition! You could be on your way to being "Touched by A Horse" in ways you cannot ever imagine.

A Victory Seeker's Resume

Our mare Tory is one of the most frequently selected partners by our clientele. A graceful bay mare, with impeccable manners, she has served in many ways over the years on our ranch. She was born in Arizona, her mother being a mare I had owned and showed since she was a two year old. Tory, cute as could be, was also a favorite foal attracting loads of attention from everyone.
As a two year old, she entered training to become my partner in Western Pleasure, Trail, and Horsemanship classes at the AQHA and local shows. The judges agreed that Tory had that something special. As a four year old, Tory won the Junior Western Pleasure at one of the largest AQHA shows, the Sun Circuit, in Scottsdale, Arizona. Tory and I stayed partners in the show ring with both rough show days and days that made us both proud. That is the game of horse showing.
After her show career, Tory went on to produce four foals with our ranch stallion, Go Robin Bar.

Three happy families adopted her foals and all of them send us regular reports on how much they love them and how fun they have been to train and have as partners.
Her first colt, A Powerbar, went on to become my next show partner. We will always treasure him as the third generation of that line. He will be featured in a future newsletter as he plays a large role in the programs here, too.
Tory has a lot to share and teach about love, kindness, and self respect. If you come to the ranch for a program be sure to look her up and see what message she has for you!

To Remember...

Walking the ranch a woman whispered "God, speak to me". A horse whinnied in the distance, but she did not hear. So she yelled "God, please, speak to me." and the thunder and lightening rolled across the pastures and sky, but she did not listen. The woman looked around and said "God, let me see you." and a herd of brood mares took off, bucking and running, but she did not see. Then, in more desperation and pain the woman shouted, "God, show me a miracle." and a weanling ran over to it's mother and nursed. She did not take notice. So she cried in despair, "Touch me God. Let me know you are here." where upon God reached down and touched her, but she brushed the puppy away and walked on. God is around us in the simplest of things that we take for granted. The blessing is not always packaged in the way you'd expect. Expect the unexpected!
